I am passionate about illustration and digital design, inspired at a young age by the comic books, illustrated novels, and cartoons I saw as a child, particularly those of Bruce Timm. I am never without a pencil and sketch pad, or more often now graphics tablet, sketching, learning new techniques and creating more images.
From the age of eleven until I was eighteen, I attended the Paul Nicholas School of Acting, which led me to then take a college qualification in performing arts. This helped a great deal with my ability to communicate and work effectively within a team. I can express myself well, both creatively and interpersonally in a structured environment. At college, I took Art and Design, studying anatomy, facial expressions, and colouring techniques.
At University, I worked to create numerous illustrations based on briefs written by clients, with some creative freedom within the boundaries of the project assigned. I also set and created my own brief in other modules using my own initiative to design and create various self-assigned projects. These projects include character design, concept art, book covers, posters and narrative illustration. As I developed through the Animation and Illustration course, I learned more about how to use softwares such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash. Over time, I developed techniques ranging from simplistic cartoonish drawing, to digital painting and rendering.
To further expand my skill and knowledge set, I successfully completed on a course to become proficient with InDesign, and am now Adobe certified at 201 level.
